The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides funds for schools to offer fresh fruits and vegetables to all students three to five days per week during the school day, outside of the breakfast and lunch service times.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides funding to eligible participating schools to provide a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables free of charge to enrolled children during the school day. FFVP has been shown to be a fun, creative and cost-effective way to introduce a sample portion of new and different fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy food options to children. 

FFVP also encourages schools to develop local partnerships for support in implementing and operating the program related to nutrition education efforts.
