Spotlight on: Myakka State Forest
Myakka State Forest is the only State Forest in South Florida with designated paddling areas. There, you can explore the delta of the Myakka River just before it flows into the Gasparilla Sound. With two camping areas directly on the water (Mangrove and Myakka River campsites), you can spend all day on the water and return to base camp to rest up for another day of canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding.
