Located in the heart of the Big Cypress Basin, Picayune Strand State Forest is a mosaic of cypress strands, wet prairie and pine flatwoods in the lowlands and subtropical hardwood hammocks in the uplands. Many endangered and threatened species call Picayune Strand home, including the Florida Panther. Hikes at this State Forest include views of cypress trees that are over 100 years old.
