The following products listed are not an endorsement or recommendation by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to use any product on this list.

In the United States, pesticides are registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) or are exempt from the requirement for registration under FIFRA Section 25(b).

Pasture Grass and Rangeland

There is a FIFRA Section 24(c) Special Local Need Label in place for Altus [ pdf 213.2 kB ]  and a FIFRA Section 18 Crisis Exemption in place for Centric [ pdf 112.3 kB ] use on pasture grass and rangeland in Florida.

Florida 2(ee) Bulletins for Insecticide Products

FIFRA Section 2(ee) allows a user to apply “a pesticide against any target pest not specified on the labeling if the application is to the crop, animal, or site specified on the labeling, unless the Administrator has required that the labeling specifically state that the pesticide may be used only for the pests specified on the labeling after the Administrator has determined that the use of the pesticide against other pests would cause an unreasonable adverse effect on the environment” (7 USC 136(ee)). In addition, all other requirements in FIFRA Section 2(ee) and the label must be met. See additional information on the use of pesticides under FIFRA Section 2(ee)

Additional Products to Consider for Pasture Grass and Rangeland

This list includes products labeled for pasture as a use site and that include a type of mealybug. Users are responsible for ensuring their product’s container label allows for their intended use and application methods. Companies may recommend their registered pesticides for use against this pest with FIFRA Section 2(ee) recommendations or bulletins. Sugarcane

There is a FIFRA Section 18 Emergency Exemption in place for Sivanto Prime [ pdf 234.4 kB ] and a FIFRA Section 18 Crisis Exemption in place for Admire Pro Systemic Protectant [ pdf 310.3 kB ] for use on sugarcane in Florida.

Residential and Commercial Lawns

If you suspect an infestation of pasture mealybug on a residential property, contact the Division of Plant Industry (DPI) Helpline for assistance with identification at 1-888-397-1517 or DPIHelpline@FDACS.gov. For recommendations for lawn care products, contact your local UF/IFAS Extension Office. Find your local Extension Office.

Reporting and Sample Submissions

If you suspect your pasture, turf or sugarcane field is showing signs of a pasture mealybug infestation, submit a sample to DPI's Entomology Section for identification or contact the DPI Helpline at 1-888-397-1517 or email DPIHelpline@FDACS.gov.
