All avocados handled in Florida must be inspected by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, with the exception of 55 pounds per day.
All avocados shipped outside of the production area (roughly all counties south of Orlando) must meet at least a U.S. Combination Grade. U.S. Combination consists of a combination of U.S. No. 1 and U.S. No. 2 avocados, provided that at least 60 percent, by count, of the avocados in each container meet the requirements of the U.S. No. 1 grade.
All avocados shipped within the production area must meet at least a U.S. No. 2 Grade.
