The Agricultural Regional Projects Program (ARPP) is an initiative championed by Commissioner Wilton Simpson and led by the Office of Agricultural Water Policy to support collaborative water resources solutions that address nonpoint source pollution from agriculture. Through partnerships with agricultural producers, water management districts, local governments and other stakeholders, this program supports large-scale projects that improve water quality and quantity.

Program Goals

• Reduce agricultural nitrogen and phosphorus to meet or exceed Basin Management Areas Plan and Total Maximum Daily Loads standards.
• Collaborate with program stakeholders on cost-effective water quality and quantity projects.
• Promote agricultural regional initiatives using innovative nutrient management technologies.
• Prioritize projects with strong pollutant loading reductions, lasting water benefits, and alignment with Florida’s sustainability.

• Bioreactors, bioretention or biofiltration
• Cover cropping
• Controlled release fertilizer
• Dispersed water projects
• Floating aquatic vegetative tilling
• Hydrologic restoration
• Hydric wetland treatment technology
• Integrated crop livestock systems
• Rapid infiltration
• Regional manure management
• Water storage and attenuation
• Water storage and treatment pond
• Watershed improvement impoundment

Who Can Apply?

• Private landowners or entities
• Local governmental entities proposing to address nonpoint source pollution from agricultural activities
• Water management districts, soil and water conservation districts, or conservation groups

Projects located in the following Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs) are currently eligible for ARPP funding:

• Lake Okeechobee, St. Lucie, Caloosahatchee
• Wacissa, Suwannee and Santa Fe
• Kings Bay and Crystal River Spring Group
• Rainbow and Silver Springs
• Chassahowitzka — Homosassa and Weeki Wachi Springs
