Sponsored by Senator Keith Truenow and Representatives Kaylee Tuck and Danny Alvarez, the legislation was passed with strong support from both chambers, delivering sweeping reforms that defend consumers and reinforce core constitutional freedoms.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson applauded the Florida Legislature for passing the Florida Farm Bill (SB 700) – the most comprehensive Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) legislative package ever passed. Sponsored by Senator Keith Truenow and Representatives Kaylee Tuck and Danny Alvarez, the legislation was passed with strong support from both chambers, delivering sweeping reforms that defend consumers and reinforce core constitutional freedoms.

“This legislation is a blueprint for protecting Floridians and our freedoms,” said Commissioner Wilton Simpson. “We are banning medicine – including fluoride – from Florida’s public water systems. We are keeping foreign countries of concern out of Florida’s charitable organizations. We are ensuring honesty in food labeling — milk comes from a cow, not an almond. We are upholding Second Amendment rights and cracking down on drone harassment of hunters. This is what bold, conservative leadership looks like, and I thank Senator Keith Truenow, Representative Kaylee Tuck, and Representative Danny Alvarez for delivering this historic bill.”

The bill, championed by Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson, prohibits medical additives – including fluoride – from public water systems, promotes food safety and labeling transparency, strengthens state sovereignty against foreign influence, defends Floridians’ Second Amendment rights, and more.

Key consumer and constitutional protections of SB 700 include:

Prioritizing Hydration Over Medication

• Prohibiting the addition of medicine – including fluoride – to public water systems.

Reloading Florida’s Commitment to the Second Amendment

• Updating Florida’s concealed weapon licenses process to eliminate red tape and delays for gun owners.
• Prohibiting the use of drones on state hunting lands or private shooting ranges with the intent to harass.

Defending Against Foreign Influence

• Prohibiting charitable organizations from soliciting or receiving funds from hostile foreign countries of concern.

 Requiring Honesty in Food Labeling

• Prohibiting the mislabeling of plant-based products as “milk,” “meat,” “poultry,” or “eggs.”

Increasing Florida’s Emergency Preparedness

• Supporting a reliable and available fuel supply during emergencies through a retail fuel registration program.
• Establishing a grant program for fiscally constrained counties and areas along evacuation routes to purchase generator power switches for fuel stations.

Supporting Florida Consumers

• Requiring businesses to clearly mark prices on all items and eliminating an outdated law that allowed for pricing to be optional.
• Eliminating the loophole for the sale of psychedelic mushrooms.
• Creating a state felony for stealing checks out of mailboxes from Florida homes and businesses.
• Enhancing protections against fuel theft and payment card misuse at retail fuel stations.
