Become a Trailtrotter
Explore our Florida State Forests from a new perspective. Trailtrotter is your ticket to a grand tour of our forests. To participate:
- Ride a total of eight trails across at least four State Forests by selecting from the Trailtrotter’ s Trail List. At the beginning of each trail, you will encounter a QR code that directs you to the Trail Programs Portal, where you can log your ride upon completion. The portal link is also available here.
- Continue to document your rides electronically through the portal. This platform enables you to enter your details, track your credits, and confirm your progress.
- After you have completed and recorded your eight trails, we will provide you with a beautiful patch suitable for sewing onto a shirt, vest, or jacket. Additionally, you will receive a certificate recognizing your accomplishment, signed by the Director of the Florida Forest Service.
Ride On
Have you become a Trailtrotter and are looking for more challenges? There are two additional levels to this program. Pick up another brochure and hit the trails.
- Trailsaddler: Ride and record a total of 16 trails to get to the next level. For your accomplishment, you will receive a new patch and certificate.
- Trailwrangler: Ride and record a total of 24 trails from the Trail List to achieve the third and final level. For this accomplishment, you will receive a third patch and certificate. When put together, the three patches form an interlocking pattern. You must complete all three levels of the program to obtain the completed design.
Tips for Your Visit
- Proof of current negative Coggins test is required for all horses in all Florida State Forests.
- Stay on marked trails to avoid trampling sensitive vegetation.
- For safety, keep horses at a good distance from each other when riding in groups.
- Bring plenty of drinking water for horse and rider.
- All riders should be aware of their surroundings at all times
- Be courteous to hikers, bicyclists and hunters when you meet them in the woods.
- Place ribbons on the tails of horses for stallions (yellow), biters (blue) and kickers (red).
- Take your time and enjoy the beauty of our State Forests.
