Employees of wildland fire agencies and structural fire departments in Florida must obtain and maintain endorsement to teach and issue certificate of completion for basic National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) 100 and 200 level courses (and equivalent courses as determined by the Florida Forest Service) in the state of Florida.

Florida Wildland Fire Agency Instructor Qualifications

Instructors must:

1. Successfully complete the course being taught.
2. Meet the NWCG instructor prerequisites, including delivery requirements identified in the Field Managers Course Guide (NWCG publication PMS 901-1).
3. Assist a qualified NWCG Lead Instructor with delivery of specific course(s) until the Lead Instructor provides a letter of endorsement confirming that the applicant has sufficient experience in presenting all units of the course(s) being taught.
4. Submit Florida Forest Service's Instructor Agreement Form [ Adobe PDF Document ] requesting endorsement.
5. Provide course agenda(s) identifying Unit Instructors to the local Florida Forest Service office in advance of the course being taught.
6. Provide course roster identifying passing/failing grades to the local Florida Forest Service office after course completion.

Florida Structural Fire Department Instructor Qualifications

Instructors must:

1. Have valid certification as a Florida Fire Service Instructor I, II or III to teach NWCG courses to service employees using such courses for position advancement or obtaining certifications for Florida fire service positions, which are determined by the State Fire Marshall.
2. Successfully complete the course(s) being taught.
3. Meet the NWCG instructor prerequisites, including delivery requirements identified in the Field Managers Course Guide, NWCG publication PMS 901-1.
4. Assist a qualified NWCG Lead Instructor with delivery of specific course(s) until the Lead Instructor provides a letter of endorsement confirming that the applicant has sufficient experience in presenting all units of the course(s) being taught.
