What Is the Commodity Supplemental Food Program?
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP):
- Works to improve the health of persons with low income, at least 60 years of age, by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods;
- Distributes monthly food packages and nutritional information; and
- Educates recipients on how to prepare and eat healthy, nutritious meals.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals interested in participating in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program must meet specified criteria:
- Must be 60 years of age or older.
- Household income must fall at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, or must participate in any of the following programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Low Income Subsidy (LIS), Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs).
- Must reside in the county where the distribution agency is located.

What Role Do We Play?
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services:
- Facilitates the distribution of USDA foods and funds to participating organizations;
- Manages contracts to ensure compliance with rules and regulations of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program;
- Ensures USDA foods are reaching low-income, elderly Floridians; and
- Provides guidance, training, outreach and technical support to participating organizations.

How Can You Help?
You can help by:
- Becoming a partner agency to aid in the distribution of USDA foods;
- Supporting your local food bank, food pantry or soup kitchen by volunteering or through financial donations; or
- Promoting the program locally through newsletters, mailings and digital communication.
