The Division of Fruit and Vegetables conducts U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety Audits.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) audits are voluntary audits that verify that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled and stored to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards.

GAP audits verify adherence to the recommendations made in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables and industry-recognized food safety practices.

How to Request an Audit

1. If you are a new applicant, you must first establish a billing account with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) by completing the SC-430 Vendor Form and submitting it according to the form completion instructions. If you already have an account but something has changed, please submit the SC-430 Vendor Form with the updates.
2. Determine what type of audit is needed based on your customers' requirements. 
3. Complete the Request for Audit Service Form SC-237A and the Agreement for Participation in Audit Services Form SC-651.
4. Email the two completed forms (SC-237A and SC-651) to FVAudits@FDACS.gov.
5. Our office will contact you and confirm the receipt of your request, give you more information about the program procedures, and schedule your audit.
