Consumers should be aware of scams involving concealed weapon licenses.
Consumers should be aware of fraudulent websites that promise concealed weapon licenses for Florida. These sites are not in any way affiliated with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), the only official authority to offer concealed weapon licenses for the state of Florida. Do not provide these sites with any personal information.
FDACS has received reports of customers receiving text message and email notifications regarding concealed weapon license renewals and requesting payment through a link in the message; do not click the links or submit payment based on these messages. FDACS is the only entity that will notify you regarding the expiration of your Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License. FDACS does not send unsolicited emails or text messages regarding the status of a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License. FDACS mails renewal notices to the licensee’s address on file approximately 95 days prior to license expiration.
If you believe you have accessed a fraudulent site or responded to a fraudulent message, please notify FDACS at 1-800-HELP-FLA or file a complaint online.
