Tracheal or oropharyngeal swabs in 3 ml of viral transport medium (VTM) for pools of up to 5 birds; shipped chilled overnight.

Tracheal wash (1-2 mL) or fresh tracheal or lung tissue; shipped chilled overnight.

Use synthetic swabs with a plastic handle. Avoid cotton or calcium alginate swabs or swabs with wooden handles.

Tests run Tuesday and Friday.
