Fresh or fixed large tissues, viscera, or aborted fetuses submitted to the lab for any test may be charged the Large/Complex Dissection fee if additional handling is required prior to performing the requested test.
Our laboratory accepts most specimens from all species, although fresh specimens (tissue, fluids or feces) from non-human primates are not currently accepted. Fixed tissue samples from non-human primates are accepted.
Turnaround times reflect business days.
Sample processing will normally begin on the day received if the samples are received in testing areas by 3 p.m.
Send specimen chilled (with cold pack) unless otherwise noted under Special Comments.
Tests (other than Necropsy) may be forwarded to outside labs — submitter will be notified in advance to obtain authorization.
