Florida partners with two services, PrePass and Drivewyze PreClear, to provide qualified commercial carriers with the opportunity to bypass agricultural inspection sites.
Participating in a bypass program offers the following benefits:
All carriers who do not haul agriculture, aquaculture or horticulture, and who do not drive refrigerated units (loaded or empty), are eligible to bypass Florida agricultural inspection stations.
PrePass is an automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system that allows participating transponder-equipped commercial vehicles to bypass designated agricultural inspection sites. Currently, PrePass is located at all interstate inspection stations.
The AVI antenna communicates bypass status to the driver. If credentials are satisfactory, a green light and audible signal from the PrePass transponder advise the driver to bypass the inspection station. Otherwise, a red light and audible signal advise the driver to pull into the station for inspection.
The Drivewyze PreClear bypass service does not require a transponder. It works on your phone, tablet or electronic logging device.
When a truck is 2 miles from a Drivewyze-serviced Florida agricultural inspection site, the Drivewyze app will display a visual and audible alert. When the vehicle is 1 mile from the site, the driver will be notified to “Bypass” if not pulling any agriculture, aquaculture or horticulture, and if not hauling a refrigerated unit (loaded or empty).
