Sandra “Sandy” L. Moore is the president of Segrest Farms, one of the largest pet wholesalers in the world, offering ornamental fish, birds, reptiles, small animals, plants and supplies to retailers across the globe. She worked in every aspect of the company prior to becoming president in 2015 and has proven to be pivotal in the company’s overall growth. During her tenure, Segrest Farms has become known not only for its quality, but for its leadership in developing management practices that set the standard for the industry.
In addition to her leadership at Segrest and the broader aquatics trade, Sandy has volunteered her time with a plethora of organizations that impact the wider pet industry. In 2009, she became a board member of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC), now known as the Pet Advocacy Network. She currently serves as the co-chair of both the Aquatic and Government Affairs committees. For her work, she was awarded the organization's Pet Industry Leader of the Year Award in 2013.
In 2017, Sandy was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Florida Tropical Fish Farmers Association. In 2018, she was recognized as a Woman of Influence by Pet Age. She also served as the secretary for the Florida Tropical Fish Farmers Association, as co-chair for the Pet Advocacy Network’s Aquatic Committee for more than eight years, and as a member on its board of directors. She is the director of the World Pet Association, treasurer on the Rising Tide Conservation Board of Advisors, and former vice president for the Executive Board of Ornamental Fish International. She works as a member of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Nonnative Fish and Wildlife Technical Assistance Group (TAG), the Pet Leadership Council, the Advisory Board for Project Piaba and the National Aquaculture Association Board of Advisors for the Non-Indigenous Species/Aquatic Nuisance Species Committee within the National Aquaculture Task Force. She was also an expert panelist for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States (FAO).
