Collections

The Division of Plant Industry Library collects books, journals, documents and other related materials needed by Division of Plant Industry staff to identify and control exotic plant pests. Subjects covered include entomology, nematology, plant pathology, botany, beekeeping, plant quarantine and biological control of pests.

The library's collections emphasize taxonomy and contain many early works on entomology and natural history, including complete sets of journals. The Documents Collection includes state, federal and foreign documents on agriculture and plant pests.

The library also maintains the division's Archives Collection, which includes all publications of the Division of Plant Industry and its predecessor, the State Plant Board, as well as photographs, clippings, maps, correspondence, manuscripts, and other materials relating to past activities of the division.

Services

The Division of Plant Industry Library, located in Gainesville, Florida, is open to the public for research use; however, books may be checked out only by division staff, research associates and University of Florida Entomology/Nematology Department faculty and students. A photocopy machine is available in the library for self-service copying or scanning.

The library is a member of the Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN) and participates in cooperative interlibrary loan and exchange agreements on the local, state, national and international levels.
