The council assists FDACS in settling complaints and disputes between seed dealers and buyers.
The Seed Investigation Council assists buyers and seed dealers in determining the validity of seed complaints made by buyers against dealers and recommends a settlement, when appropriate, resulting from the alleged failure of the seed to produce or perform as represented by the label of such seed.
The council operates under the authority of Section 578.27, Florida Statutes.
Membership Requirements
Membership composition:
- One member appointed on the recommendation of the Dean for Extension, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida
- One member appointed on the recommendation of the Dean for Research, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida
- One member appointed on the recommendation of the President of the Florida Seedsmen and Garden Supply Association
- One member appointed on the recommendation of the President of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation
- One member appointed on the recommendation of the President of the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association
- One member representing the agriculture industry at large
- One member representing the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
