The council advises FDACS on pest control enforcement issues. 

The Pest Control Enforcement Council advises the Commissioner of Agriculture regarding the regulation of pest control practices and advises government agencies with respect to those activities related to their responsibilities regarding pest control. The council serves as the statewide forum for the coordination of pest control-related activities to eliminate duplication of effort and maximize protection of the public.

The council operates under the authority of Section 482.243, Florida Statutes (F.S.).

Membership Requirements

• A representative of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services;
• A citizen not involved in the conduct of pest control;
• A state university urban entomologist;
• Eight persons each holding a pest control operator’s certificate issued under Section 482.111, F.S., of whom:
  • Two individuals are actively involved in termite control,
  • Two individuals are actively involved in general household pest control,
  • Two individuals are actively involved in structural fumigation, and
  • Two individuals are actively involved in lawn and landscape pest control
