The council provides recommendations to FDACS regarding noxious weed issues.

To make recommendations to the department to add or remove plants from Rule 5B-57.007, F.A.C., based on the biological justifications found in Rule 5B-57.010(1), F.A.C.

The council operates under the authority of Section 581.091; 570.232, Florida Statutes and Rule 5B-57 Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C).
 

Membership Requirements:

• Two faculty members recommended by the University of Florida:
  • One specializing in production agriculture research
  • One specializing in natural resources research
• Three representatives from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS):
  • One from the Division of Plant Industry Director’s Office
  • One from the Division of Plant Industry’s Bureau of Plant and Apiary Inspection
  • One from the Division of Plant Industry’s Botany Section
