The council advises and assists FDACS in carrying out and reviewing the rules relating to the Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act.
Pursuant to s. 559.9221, F.S., the purpose of the Motor Vehicle Repair Advisory Council is "to advise and assist the department in carrying out" its duties under the law. The Council is also responsible for reviewing rules adopted by the department, consulting on industry-related advancements and issues, and helping to promote greater consumer protection as it relates to motor vehicle repair.
The council operates under the authority of Section 559.9221, Florida Statutes (F.S.).
Up to 9 members, all appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture. As statute specifies: six industry members of the council must be chosen from individuals already engaged in the motor vehicle repair business who are eligible to be registered. The professional members of this council must hold a valid license.
