The council advises FDACS on wine and viticultural research, promotion and education. 

The Florida Wine Advisory Council submits to the Commissioner of Agriculture, annually, the industry’s recommendations for wine and viticultural research, promotion, and education and, as necessary, the industry’s recommendations for revisions to the State Wine Plan.

The council operates under the authority of Section 599.002, Florida Statutes.

Membership Requirements

The council is comprised of eight members:

• President of the Florida Wine and Grape Growers Association or their designee.
• Representative from the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.
• Representative from the viticultural science program at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
• Five additional commercial members, including a wine producer, a fresh fruit producer, a non-wine product producer (e.g., juice, jelly, pie fillings), and a viticultural nursery operator.
