The Florida State Fair Authority Board guides FDACS on the administration of the State Fair and various events.
The Florida State Fair Authority is a 22-member board comprised of respected community, business and agricultural leaders from across the state of Florida. Authority board members volunteer their time and expertise to guide the administration of the State Fair and various events held at the Florida State Fairgrounds including the annual Florida State Fair.
The council operates under the authority of Section 570.451, Florida Statutes.
Membership Requirements:
The authority shall be composed of 22 members:
- The Commissioner of Agriculture, or their designee, shall serve as a voting member.
- A member who is the member of the Board of County Commissioners of Hillsborough County representing the county commission district in which the Florida State Fairgrounds is located, who shall serve as a voting member.
- An appointed youth member who is an active member of the Florida Future Farmers of America or a 4-H Club, who shall serve as a nonvoting member.
- The Commissioner of Agriculture shall appoint each other member of the authority. Each member appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture shall serve at the pleasure of the Commissioner of Agriculture.
- Six of the members may be from Hillsborough County.
