The council advises and assists FDACS on Florida Forestry issues.

The Florida Forestry Council considers and studies the entire field of forestry and advises, counsels and consults with FDACS and the Director of the Florida Forest Service on request in connection with the promulgation, administration and enforcement of all laws and rules relating to forestry, to consider all matters submitted to it by FDACS or the Director of the Florida Forest Service.

The council operates under the authority of Section 589.01, Florida Statutes.

Membership Requirements 

The council is composed of individuals representing key sectors of Florida’s forestry industry, with one representative from each of the following areas:

• The pulp and paper manufacturing industry
• A forest products industry other than pulp and paper
• A timber or timber products dealer
• An individual forest landowner
• A statewide conservation organization with a primary focus on the conservation and development of forest resources
