The committee provides oversight to programs designed to acquire, maintain, and distribute quality sources of citrus germplasm.
The Citrus Budwood Technical Advisory Committee advises the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) on matters pertaining to Rule Chapter 5B-62, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), such as germplasm introduction, nursery stock certification, testing procedures, and other Citrus Budwood Protection Program procedures.
The committee operates under the authority of Rule 5B-62.006, F.A.C.
Membership Requirements
- Four members who are owners or employees of citrus nurseries with one representing a producer of dooryard citrus nursery stock;
- Four members who are commercial citrus fruit producers or employees of producers;
- Four members from the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences or the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service and who shall be non-voting advisors to the committee;
- Four members who are FDACS employees and who shall be non-voting advisors to the committee;
- Two alternate members, one who is an owner or employee of a citrus nursery, and one who is a commercial citrus fruit producer or employee of a producer, and who shall be non-voting members to the committee and have voting rights only on the absence of members from that category.
