The board regulates individuals and businesses performing work that falls within the scope of Chapter 472, Florida Statutes.

The Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers is established pursuant to Section 472.007, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and regulates individuals and businesses performing work that falls within the scope of Chapter 472, F.S. It carries out a wide variety of duties, including setting the standards of practice for the profession.

The board operates under the authority of Section 472.007, F.S.

Membership Requirements

The board consists of nine members, all appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture and subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.​

Membership composition:

• Seven registered surveyors and mappers who are primarily engaged in the practice of surveying and mapping.
• Two laypersons who are not and have never been surveyors and mappers or members of any closely related profession or occupation.
