The council was created by Florida statute to provide a means of communication between the aquaculture industry and FDACS.
The Aquaculture Review Council formulates and recommends to the Commissioner of Agriculture rules and policies governing the business of aquaculture by studying and evaluating aquacultural issues. This council also provides aquaculture industry recommendations for research and development to be included in the annual revision of the state aquaculture plan. The council annually submits to the Commissioner a prioritized list of research projects to be included in the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' legislative budget request.
The council operates under the authority of Section 597.005, Florida Statutes.
